In the Eco School (Green Team) at John Cabot, I’m in three teams, first the monitoring team, second the literacy team and last the media team. The monitoring team’s job is to check every homeroom classes if they are recycling in the right way. They will be evaluated every month with 3 signs, circle means that you are doing very well, triangle means that you’re doing okay and the “x” means that you’re not doing very well. The class with the most points at the end of the semester, they will get a certificate to say “well done”. The literacy team is mostly showing newspaper articles which involve schools being eco friendly. Lastly the media team, which students creates signage, posters and ads, for example an advertisement to remind the classes to open their room blinds when the sun is up to help save electricity.
Federation of Filipino Canadians of Brampton, a registered non profit organization, facilitates in providing items such as used school books, used personal computers that will be beneficial to school kids in rural Philippines. 75 public schools, a rehab centre for victims of child prostitution are some of the institutions in the Philippines that have been provided with these items. The Federation is thankful to all its donors who are being part of the process not only to help children in need, but also to extend the life of a resource/product that has already been produced. We at IYC Mississauga Chapter have been one of the sources that have provided used school books and used personal computers.
Thanks Jude. I am not much of a fan of Facebook, thus not quite sure of your Foundation. But I believe it is akin to Sustainable Development. If such keep up the good work. My late grand dad was involved in a World Bank road project in Kaduna State, Nigeria many many years ago.

Reuse of Used Eye Glasses:
Lions International has a process where used eye glasses can be reused. Please see, http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/our-work/sight-programs/eyeglass-recyc...
We to date have collected many used eye glasses. The process what we have done is to contact a local Lions Club and obtain eye glass recycle boxes which they provide free of charge. We place such boxes at locations such as schools, public and private institutions, upon obtaining approval for such. Persons who have eye glasses that no longer have a use for them are then invited to drop them at these collection boxes. These used eye glasses are then picked up from these collection boxes and sent to Calgary, Alberta for processing and cataloguing.
Any collective group anywhere in the world who does not have eye glasses but has a need for such, contacts a local Lions Club in their neighbourhood. This local Lions Club then contacts Lions International, which in turns facilitates providing this local club with the required eye glasses. The local club then distributes these eye glasses to this collective group with the help of a qualified optometrist. The used eye glasses are provided with no cost to the recipients.
Green my Parents:
A book titled ‘Green my Parents’ written by youth, shows practical ways to be environmentally conscious, not only for youth but for all. This book is available for the public in the Mississauga Library System as well as at Amazon.
