12th Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations,
held from August 7-9, 2013, at the United Nations HQ in New York
The Youth Assembly is a once in a lifetime opportunity for any young leader to learn about the United Nations and its work towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
Selected among few young leaders to serve as delegates who represented the International Youth Council, I was chosen in my capacity as Chapter Leader United Arab Emirates. I was part of a global coalition of young people working towards sustainable development which gave me opportunity as a Speaker and Participant in various Google Hangouts and also conducting Workshops.
Youth Assembly Overview Focused
Building Youth Leadership for the Success for the 8 UN Millennium Development Goals
Themed On the Road to Actions: Moving Beyond the MDGs, post 2015 provided me with
Platform for Plenary sessions, Workshops, Round table Discussions, Networking, UN Mission Visits, New Social Venture Competitions, MDG Related Skills Building and Campaign Introductions
Leadership- U.N. Staff participation at sessions and as Young leader from UAE Inter-generational Leadership Exchanges
Happily I attended the Youth Assembly 2012, spanned over 3 days at United Nation attended by over 1300 youth delegates from across the globe as Youth Delegate and engaged as leader with youth from various countries like Romania, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, USA etc and shared the work that is being done by SynergY and youth in UAE. As a favorite Volunteer by FAF I proudly led the Youth delegates and visited several Missions to the United Nations and got a deeper insight and work. Columbia Mission and United States Mission to the United Nations were my favorite visits.
I conducted an one hour long workshop representing International Youth Council as United Arab Emirates Chapter Leader, I helped engage many youth from different countries stressing on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) and how best youth can connect by the smallest of the acts in their own communities and make them achievable. ‘Each Act Counts’ and thus the present Youth and Leaders committed themselves and took Millennium Development Goal-MDG Pledges too.
Additionally, as delegate I had the opportunity to hear from renowned speakers and workshop leaders and participate in discussions on urgent issues of today and help make permanent impact throughout the world.
